Christian Who Beleive In Jesus But Do Not Beleive In The Spiritual World

debate

During various discussions with other brethren in the faith I have come across some remarkably interesting, but perplexing believes. Some Christians believe in Jesus Christ or God but will express their inability to believe in the existence of a “spiritual world” while others believe in Jesus Christ and angels but not in forces of darkness. Regardless of whichever side you might be standing on at this point in your life, both set of believes go against everything Jesus Christ stands for and the Bible taught us.

This temporary “state” or “experience” we call life on earth which appears to be so real is actually the “backstage”, not the frontstage, but the backstage of something greater that has already occurred in the frontstage which is the spiritual realm. Life on this earth is temporary because Jesus Christ taught so throughout the Bible on several occasions:

Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear. (Luke 21:33, NLT)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10, NJKV)

As a result, creation as in earth and the fullness thereof (the earth herself, the trees, the plants, the herbs, the sun, the moon, the creatures that swim the path of the sea, the birds in the air, the animal in the fields, the creeping and crawling animals, and us human as described in Genesis 1) in addition to our life experiences which represent all the physical things we see and live on this earth are mere results or manifestation of unseen things. Paul put it this way:

while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV)

The author of Hebrews further confirmed this point when he wrote that:

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. (Hebrews 11:3, ESV)

In other words what it is seen, and that we can touch on this earth were not created from visible things but from things that are invisible, that cannot be seen. Henceforth, spiritual. The earth and the fullness therefore were made by the word of God which were issued in the unseen realm in the first place.

The author Kevin Zadai drives this point home in his book: The Agenda of Angels: What the Holy Ones Want You to Know About the Next Move of God when he made this statement:

Before the development of radar and sonar, big ships faced a greater danger from iceberg. Sailors could see the very top of the iceberg, but it was only two percent of the total mass, ninety-eight percent was hidden under the water. Because they couldn’t see the threat, many ships were lost!

The same principle applies to believers in Yeshua. Ninety-eight percent of the action we face is in the invisible realm. (Zadai, 2019)

The 2 Bible verses mentioned earlier actually urge Christians to move from a “carnal thinking” mindset which is nothing but thinking and believing based on what is seen and pleases the flesh, to a more “spiritual” mindset that analyzes what is behind what is seen which is the spiritual aspect of all things. Why? Again because the spirit realm is the frontstage where all the all the things that occur in the physical earthly realm originate from. The “carnal mindset” limits Christians to the “physical realm” which are those things we can touch and physically see. The main issue with that physical and carnal mindset is that the God we claim to serve neither rules from the physical realm nor is a physical entity by nature. John explained this to us about God:

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24, KJV)

Bible

It is then impossible and an oxymoron to be a Christian who does not believe in spiritual things or the spiritual world. This means that one is operating in the flesh which is carnal instead of leaving by the spirit who gives understanding of all things spiritual. And this also means that you do not believe in Jesus Christ as he is no longer physically alive on this earth though He is alive for eternity in the spiritual realm. A Christian who operates from this physical world perspective is unfortunately a defeated Christian, out of alignment with God in likely many areas of his/her life, and overall ineffective to the kingdom of light. This carnal living is the very reason why Jesus Christ gave us his Holy Spirit to help us overcome the flesh to live spiritual lives while being in this physical world:

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1, NKJV)

It is then also impossible to please a God who is a spirit being as stated in John 4:24 when living in the flesh or denying the existence of the spiritual realm. God is a spirit hence in the spiritual world, not in the flesh in this physical world though he has full control over both the physical and spiritual. One of the greatest benefits of this new testament/covenant in the precious blood of Jesus Christ is that we moved from a “human to priest to God” type of relationship to a “person to God” relationship type. We no longer need a priest as those who believe in Christ and have accepted him are now priest and can boldly approach the throne of grace. How can an average Christian who spends 100% of their time, 24 hours a day only minding physical things in the physical world have a relationship with a spiritual being who resides and rules the spiritual world? How can such type of Christian please Jesus Christ the God we claim to serve?

because the mind of the flesh is hostility toward God; for it is not subject to the Law of God, for not even can it be (Romans 8:7, Berean)

The main objective of Christ baptizing us with the Holy Ghost is for us to be able to overrule the flesh through the power of his spirit. In this manner, we are perfected in the fruits we bear which are no longer carnal fruits but the fruits of the Holy Ghost:

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48, NIV)

I hope we are now seeing why it is impossible for there to be a Christian who does neither believe nor deals with the spiritual world. Our father we serve himself is a spiritual being that can only be found there.

And remember it is not enough to know there is a spiritual realm out there, you must be engaged in it as the Holy Ghost leads you. This by no means implies that a Christian should go conjure up spirits which are demons of course through Ouija boards or seances or other methods, absolutely Not! Engaging in the spiritual realm means developing a close relationship with Jesus and surrendering ourselves to his Holy Spirit to guide us through the spiritual experience. The tools the Lord gave us to achieve this is through the acquisition of knowledge by reading our Bibles daily, praying daily, fasting as often as we can, and meditating on the word of God while fully obeying his commandments and repenting as needed.

There is also a bigger problem with being a Christian who does not believe nor care for the spiritual realm. Jesus Christ further reminded us that following him will automatically put in position where we make new enemies who are the enemies of the kingdom of light, the kingdom of Jesus Christ. And those enemies equally reside and operate from the spiritual realm from the kingdom of darkness which is the kingdom of satan as we know it:

If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? (Matthew 12:26, NIV)

The day we choose to receive and believe in Christ we automatically agree to the terms and conditions attached to walking in faith with Christ. These terms of conditions include a clause that we automatically come into opposition with the kingdom of satan which is constantly at war with the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Part of that warfare involves a ministry of hatred worldwide that satan the prince of this physical world has put in place against Christians:

John 15: 18 – 20 (NKJV)

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you (John 15: 18 – 20)

John 15: 18 – 20 (NKJV)

The Kingdom of Light vs. the Kingdom of Darkness

If being a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, automatically puts us in a war zone with armies of darkness that are not physical beings but spiritual ones that are highly wicked and hate mankind with a passion (I can attest to this personally), the will of our father has never been for his children to be defenseless, weaponless, or weak. Even less to be a Christian who neither believes nor cares for spiritual “stuff”. Paul warned us about this war state we automatically subscribe to when we become followers of Jesus Christ:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV)

And because even our enemies as Christians are spiritual beings like our father is, in order to overcome them we need weapons that are equally spiritual through the power of the Holy Ghost himself (I hope now we understand why Jesus gave us the Holy Ghost under this new covenant):

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10: 4 – 5, NKJV)

And the ability to learn how to effectively use those weapons is through the guidance and teaching of the Holy Ghost:

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (John 14:26, ESV)

So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty (Zechariah 4:6, NIV)

Dear Saints, there is therefore no such thing as a Christian who believes in Christ but does not believe in the spiritual realm or beings as God himself as noted earlier is a spirit. There is also no such thing as a Christian who loves Christ and keeps his commandments who will not have to face the kingdom of satan in one way or another as our Lord Jesus was himself heavily opposed during his ministry on earth.  The greatest opposition our Lord Jesus Christ faced while on earth was made of the high priest, pharisees, rulers of the synagogues, and the scribes, who were all were working for the kingdom of darkness under the leading of demonic spirits. Therefore Jesus told them:

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44, ESV)

Hence the existence of a Christian who does not believe in demons and the kingdom of satan of which Jesus spoke above is quite perplexing and can only be an indication of a Christian who needs to improve on the closeness of his/her relationship with the father in the secret place while increasing in understanding through the Holy Ghost. We all have lots of room to grow so I don’t want anyone to fill bad about where they are at right now. Just purpose in your heart to grow from here on and do better so we can fulfill the commission of our master Jesus Christ gave to his followers/disciples:

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18 – 20, ESV)

And remember there is no such thing as a Christian who believes in Jesus Christ our God/Lord but neither does believe in the spiritual realm nor care for spiritual “stuff”.

The non-believer who says that he does not believe in a God he can’t see, unfortunately makes more sense than a Christian who claims to be believe in a God who is a spirit being all the while not believing in the existence of a spiritual realm and beings. The non-believer at least acknowledges that the only reason he/she does not believe in a God is because he cannot believe in an entity that is invisible. This does make sense as they are making this statement from a fleshly realm perspective in which a spiritual God does not exist.

Keep on fighting the good fight Saints and let’s strive to deepen our relationship with Christ DAILY.
